Childcare Vouchers

Update December 2018

New applications for the Childcare Voucher Scheme have now closed. Harrow Council is still operating the scheme for existing users.

Current scheme arrangements

Childcare vouchers are an employee benefit available to all eligible working parents which can be exchanged for up to £243 per month (£55 per week) of their gross salary.

The vouchers can be used towards registered childcare, the exchanged part of the salary is exempt from tax and National Insurance contributions. This allows parents to make savings of up to £933 per parent (even if both parents work for Harrow Council), per year on their childcare costs.

You can save money on all types of registered childcare for children up to 16 years old, including:

  • Activity clubs
  • Au pairs
  • Crèches
  • Childminders
  • Day nurseries
  • Holiday schemes
  • Nannies
  • Out of school clubs
