LGPS
With over 4.6 million members the LGPS is one of the largest public sector pension schemes in the UK. The LGPS is a nationwide scheme and is a valuable part of the pay and reward package for employees working in local government or working for other employers participating in the scheme.
The LGPS changed from a Defined Benefit Final Salary Scheme to a Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) Scheme with effect from 1 April 2014, for pension benefits built up from 1 April 2014.
As an employee of Harrow Council you will automatically be enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme from your start date. Your participation in the scheme will require you to pay a monthly contribution, with the amount and rate that you pay dependant on your salary.

Teachers
The Teachers’ Pensions Scheme (TPS) is one of the largest public sector pension schemes in the UK.
You will automatically be enrolled into the Teachers’ Pensions Scheme from your start date at Harrow Council. Your participation in the scheme will require you to pay a monthly contribution, with the amount and rate that you pay dependant on your salary.
