Health and safety

The Corporate Health and Safety team is part of the Commercial Services Division within the Environment & Enterprise Directorate.

We provide advice and guidance across all services on health and safety matters for Harrow Council employees and management, as well as the safety of council buildings.

The multidisciplinary team includes, Environment Health Officers (EHOs), Technical Officers and specialists Health and Safety Advisors. A number of officers are area based and will be able to deal directly with issues relating to premises within their individual areas on a day-to-day basis.

Through consultation, we develop policies, procedures, strategies and performance management relating to all health and safety matters. We aim to promote:

• a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation
• management "ownership" of health and safety in their area of responsibility
• health and safety change management
• the development of individuals through training
• progressive improvement in health and safety performance
